The 2nd Junior Barn Detective (JBD) Training Workshop will be conducted on Saturday, November 6th, 2010 at the Whitmore House Catering Center/B&B near Bellefontaine, Ohio. This popular beautiful facility is located on State Rt. 47, approximately 4 miles west of Bellefontaine and 20 miles east of I-75. The one day program will begin with check-in from 8:30 to 9:00 AM and end at 4:30 PM. The morning portion of the program will take place indoors followed by an afternoon outdoor JBD style practice inspection of a local "needy" barn requiring a significant amount of TLC.
This training workshop is designed to further educate volunteer barn enthusiasts who are willing to then go out into their own respective Ohio communities and assist owners and stewards of older barns. The objective is to help them understand preservation and maintenance techniques, available resources and use options, and hopefully build a greater appreciation for their particular grand old structure.
The cost of the workshop is $50 per individual or, either $85 or $100 per couple, depending on whether or not they want to share one notebook or each desire to have their own. The course is conducted using this large resource "notebook" and it goes home with the attendee(s) at days end. The workshop cost includes the notebook, snacks, lunch and all other classroom materials. Attendance will be limited to a maximum of 24 students.
